Fennel 21 Months, Male, Springer X Brittany Spaniel

Fennel is a twenty-one month old, male, Springer x Brittany Spaniel and he’s looking for his forever home. He’s a nervous dog and this manifests as a startle response whilst asleep. Fennel has a lot of energy and likes to have things to play with at all times. He’s had some obedience training and is fully house-trained. Fennel would suit an adult house without any cats due to his high prey drive. Please enquire.

Fennel [Reserved]'s Assessment.

● Fennel is microchipped. He hasn’t yet been neutered.
● He doesn’t have any known health issues.
● When Fennel is alone in the house, he stays calm and will sleep but may also bark.
● He’s pleased to see you once you arrive home and will jump up.
● Fennel is a very energetic dog around the home and likes to have things to play with at all times. He has bursts of hyperactivity before enjoying a good sleep.
● He loves rope toys and ripping up pieces of paper.
● Fennel is a nervous dog which often manifests with sleep startle. When sleeping, if something moves near him, he’ll sometimes lunge & bark at whatever or whoever it was.
● Fennel is reactive to people at the front door and will jump up at them. He’ll also bark at people passing.
● He has two meals per day, one in the morning and one in the evening. He currently eats Bella & Duke’s raw food.
● Fennel will only eat on command and will wait patiently.
● He’s fully house-trained.
● He’s finished an entry-level obedience training course as a puppy. His sit/stay is very good and he’s great at “find it’, however, he struggles with walking to heel.
● Fennel understands the commands: sit, stay, come here, leave it, and paw.
● He has two walks a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Walking is difficult as he pulls a lot, therefore the majority of the walk is going back and forth along the road to improve his heel work.
● Fennel responds really well to engaging play in a garden. He enjoys scent-based games and being given jobs to do.
● He is reactive to other dogs when out walking, especially when on his lead. He tends to lie down and wait for them to approach him and then will start lunging in their direction and barking. Fennel can be incredibly submissive with female dogs.
● In a neutral setting, Fennel quickly learns to get on with other dogs.
● Fennel has never lived with children but has had contact with them between the ages of two and four.
● He’s very loving around humans he’s used to, however, he can be too energetic for young children and the older generation. This is improving as he matures.
● Fennel has a high prey drive for small animals and cannot live with cats.
